Advisers Who Think in Decades

Sterling & Sterling's senior team combines Romanian regulatory expertise with European capital markets experience — and a fiduciary commitment to every client they advise.
A firm built on fiduciary discipline
Sterling & Sterling was founded in Sibiu in 2011 by two advisers who had grown dissatisfied with product-driven financial services. They wanted to build a firm whose revenue model was aligned with client outcomes — not with the sale of any particular product. Over fourteen years, that philosophy has shaped everything: the retainer-based fee structure, the written Protection Blueprint methodology, the twice-yearly review cadence, and the deliberate decision to remain a small, focused practice rather than expand into a general wealth manager. Every adviser at Sterling & Sterling operates under a fiduciary mandate, meaning they are contractually required to act in the client's best interest. That is still not the industry standard in Romania, and it is a commitment we take seriously.

The senior advisory team
Six advisers, each specialising in a distinct aspect of capital protection and long-term structuring.
Alexandru Ionescu — Founding Partner
Alexandru leads the firm's strategic advisory practice, with fifteen years of experience in portfolio risk containment and multi-generational succession structuring. He advises a concentrated book of family office clients and personally oversees the Protection Blueprint methodology.
Cristina Marin — Founding Partner
Cristina specialises in insurance wrapper structuring and cross-border preservation mandates. She holds EU and Romanian insurance advisory licences and coordinates the firm's relationships with licensed insurers across Luxembourg, Austria, and Ireland.
Bogdan Radu — Senior Adviser, Risk Structures
Bogdan focuses on quantitative risk analysis and portfolio stress-testing. He joined Sterling & Sterling in 2015 after seven years in fixed-income trading in Bucharest, and brings a markets-practitioner perspective to the firm's structural recommendations.
Laura Constantin — Senior Adviser, Tax & Legal Coordination
Laura manages the interface between advisory recommendations and legal implementation, working directly with clients' notaries, lawyers, and accountants. She has particular expertise in Romanian succession law and the structuring of asset-holding entities under Romanian and EU law.
“What distinguishes Sterling & Sterling is that you always deal with the same adviser — not a rotating relationship manager. Alexandru has known our family's situation for six years. That continuity means he notices things that a newer adviser simply would not have the context to catch.”
Radu Florescu, Brașov — private client since 2019
Our commitment to continuity and discretion
We maintain a deliberately limited client roster so that every client receives genuine senior attention rather than delegated case management. Each client is assigned a lead adviser and a secondary contact — both at senior level — ensuring that knowledge of your situation is never held by a single individual. All client communications and documentation are handled under strict confidentiality protocols, and our Sibiu office operates with physical and digital security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we manage. The charcoal-gold palette of our materials is not merely aesthetic; it signals the gravity and permanence we associate with every engagement. We do not rush, we do not oversell, and we do not change our recommendations with each shift in market sentiment.

Speak directly with a senior adviser
Initial conversations at our Strada Nicolae Bălcescu office are conducted by founding-partner level advisers — not by junior staff.
